UGANDA OFFICE

In response to a need for an East African home base, Aid Sudan opened an office in Kampala, Uganda. There are several logistical reasons a location in Uganda was chosen over one in Sudan. Communication in Uganda is vastly improved over Sudan, which is limited virtually to satellite phones. Ground transportation for special projects to southern Sudan (e.g. the Kulu Famine Relief Project) originates from Uganda. Mission teams fly into Kampala before chartering a plane to southern Sudan. Lastly, many organizations working in southern Sudan are also based in Uganda. 

Under the direction of Sudan Country Director Kerry Henderson, the office officially opened in January 2008. A former missionary to Tanzania, Kerry felt the call to return to Africa with his wife Neltia and their three boys, Drayton, Isom and McCain. They are fluent in Swahili and have a deep heart for the people in southern Sudan. Kerry earned his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Theological Seminary.

The Uganda office is Aid Sudan’s eyes and ears in East Africa and serves as a hub for Moses Project missionaries, mission teams and special project efforts in Sudan.
